This is a brilliant film by one of the most exciting filmmakers at work today. In a torrent of wildly inventive images, Wong
Kar Wai follows the fortunes of several characters inhabiting the Hong Kong underworld, whose sometimes violent and generally
aimless paths intersect occasionally. Far more than the earlier "Chunking Express" this film has a a mood of dark,
lyrical urban melancholy -- a mood explored more relentlessly in the director's masterpiece "In the Mood For Love".
