The computer animation of this sequel to "Shrek" is amazing and frequently very beautiful -- state of the art stuff.
To me, though, the story seems contrived and much of the humor forced and/or perfunctory. It has the feel of a movie written
by committee, as I'm sure it was -- there are even three directors listed. It's the case of a franchise on auto-pilot. The
high points are a new character, Puss In Boots, brilliantly and hilariously voiced by Antonio Banderas, and a rousing climax
involving a humongous gingerbread man, which is very funny and slightly demented. If you liked "Shrek", as I did,
you'll like this, too -- but as far as I'm concerned, this one is somehow less than the sum of its often amusing parts.
